You're a soldier? Then act like one!

When wars wherever are fought, fair, foul, feint, the tactics tried, pursued, purely, purposefully are throughout targeted to the termination of the one opponent by the other. It consequently stands to reason that those who are serious warriors, will ensure life for the enemy is uneasy, whether war ends in warrior victory or not. Which is why bobby traps were invented, are manufactured and deployed.

Now, in modern times, depending to the viciousness of the warrior, in order to retain a stranglehold on possessed or captured territory, the subsurface is literally turned into a minefield -step, or drive over one and, "Voodoom!!!" that's the end of you and those in close proximity. Pity the fool then who rushes in where angels fear to tread. Pity, too, the innocent who, war ended, resume/commence their daily routines as if war never was.

Which begs the question: Why it is that after some wars, persons who claim to be warriors and or trained soldiers, on encountering a landmine left behind by the enemy, rather than defusing it, on it step, or, worse yet, instead of sounding and alarm, summon fellow warriors close to "enjoy the explosion", causing well-intentioned to be blown to smithereens?


Don't they understand politics is war?

Labour Day, 2012! What next, Abdulah?

75 years ago, a King went to Fyzabad, obsessed with arresting a certain situation...he abjectly failed, because his movements were surreptitious, furthermore, horribly out of sync with the oppressed "massive" -incensed, the poor and downtrodden (man, woman and child) turned on him and fried him in his own fat...literally.

Since then, the spot has been marked as "Charlie King Junction" (CKJ), Fyzabad, Trinidad, in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Ritually, on the anniversary of the sacrifice, many journey to CKJ rituallistically to commemorate the occasion. They so do because the original event quickly galvanized and coalesced long-seething anger against exploiters, so much so that the government of the day had to implement radical changes in the people's perpetual favour.

In 1973, in a garish but futile attempt to appease, the anti-people aggregation (paradoxically named "People's National Movement") proclaimed the day to be Labour Day...instead of May the 1st.

2 years ago, a queen made the same pilgrimage for the same purpose...she succeeded because she lithely danced in tune with the browbeaten -enraptured, all anti-PNMism parties, whether of vestigal value or not, embraced and anointed her as the one to conduct the symphony whose overture would be to crescendo the discordant PNM out of government forever and ever, amen!

For the records: with a fetial finesse few before have demonstrated, she so stunningly synchronized that the People's Partnership's crushing conquest of the PNM has the latter bazodee to this day. For the records too: between 1937 and 2010, no figure other than Kamla Persad-Bissessar has been able to use CKJ as a platform from which to jumpstart fundamental change in Trinidad and Tobago.

Today, June 19th 2012, a man who wishes to be king shall be undertaking the same trek. It's left to be seen what he can there say or do to turn the tide against the government of the people, by the people, for the people, especially seeing he was not an impuissant intermezzo, but a main theme in the labour of love for the people 
called "The People's Partnership, Opus 1, 2010-2015"...for, history has amply shown how CKJ does never tarried whenever Fate declares it is time to change the way we do business in Trinidad and Tobago...and that those who don't learn from history are irrevocable fools.

Ralph Maraj's frenzied rant.

With all due respect -if any is allowed to traitors- Ralph Maraj has entirely missed several fax (sic), thus needs to be corrected:

1. What "reshuffle"? The Prime Minister publicly announced that, as Prime Minister, she would be embarking on the reconfiguration of Ministries, to ensure her government is better able to deliver to the public than it has. Given her well-known modus operandi, it won't be the 1st time...unlikely, too, it'll be the last...for she is a leader who's unafraid of allowing the tide to run when everyone says it must halt, since she understands the futility involved when proper timing is sacrificed in pursuing the greater good of all.

The 1st reconfiguration was done on her ascension to Prime-Ministerial office, in that, in May 2010, Gov't Departments were shifted and new Ministries created (significantly, Ministry of The People). Some time after, the Unemployment Relief Programme was removed from the Ministry of Finance and placed under the Minstry of Labour, Small and Micro Enterprise Development...it has since been brought under the Office of The Prime Minister, but operationalized under three other Ministers.

Then, Ministries of Transport and of Gender, Youth and Child Development were crafted.

None of those arrangements qualify as "a resuffle", as a reshuffle means: the shifting of Ministers from Ministry to Ministry -even out of Cabinet altogether, as Ralph Maraj well knows- while the affected Ministries themselves otherwise remain as they were.

2. In publicly "telegraphing" her intention, the Honourable Prime Minister has introduced a never-before-seen, not never-see-come-see, style of governance: she has literally opened the lines for the entire population to proffer advice of what the end result must be...after all, it's a People's Partnership Gov't in place, not Patrick's Notional Movement!

In other words, the way has been opened for a referendum of sorts on the efficiency of way Ministries are currently organized.

Thus far, few outside of the People's Partnership itself seemed to have grasped that; thus, like Ralph Maraj, many spend valuable time in nitpicking and fabricating, hoping thereby, somehow the duly-elected government would be unduly brought to its knees.

But, the innards of Whitehall and "God face" none of them would ever see, for the ground has shifted..permanently...they can tune in to Sugar Aloes for melodious corroboration, if they doubt me!

There are many other reasons why Ralph Maraj is debunkable. Others, I expect, shall tend to them, for the saltmine beckons and, like the tide, the saltmine is not to be held in abeyance.

What "kills" a partnership.

In a partnership, two (or more) separate entities voluntarily join together in order to accomplish an objective which, individually, none may or may not have been able to achieve.

Having partnered, each becomes the agent of the other(s), thus each becomes individually liable for the debts of all, but, concerning each's entitlement to share the profits derived, only as clearly beforehand agreed, .

Consequently, it makes good sense for partners to get a firm grip of the happenings which cause a partnership to end, as under:

1. The completion of the project for whose execution the partnership was formed, or, before such time, any of the following:

2. The death of, or onset of insanity in, a partner.

3. The resignation of a partner.

4. The effluxion of the time allotted for completing the project.

Did I miss anything?

5. The partners agreeing to bring it to an end.

At the height of the 1970 Black Power upheaval, with Dr. Eric William's and his PNM reeling on the ropes, ANR Robinson flees the burning SS Baleezay.

ANR’s alleged statement to PNM General Council of April 19th 1970.

‘For some time now I have been profoundly concerned by:

(a) the lack of values and of a sense of direction in the public life of the country;
(b) the vast accumulation of personal power by the political leader of the party;
(c) the abuse of that power:

(i) as a shield to protect political friends guilty of the gravest abuses.
(ii) as a refuge for those who victimize persons seeking to remedy abuses.
(iii) as a means of suborning party members or otherwise dominating or stultifying the party.

These factors have resulted in the failure of the party to submit to disciplinary procedures:

(a) Ministers close to the Prime Minister who have been guilty of scandalous improprieties;
(b) party members close to the Political leader who have been involved incorrupt practices;
(c) sustained vilification of party members like myself and others who have sought to expose and remedy abuses;
(d) the use of the party organ, the Nation, as a personal instrument of propaganda.

This situation has further resulted in:

(a) the rape of the party’s constitution;
(b) The introduction by the government in Parliament of the most shameful piece of legislation in our history since 1834:
(c) open conflict between the government and the Deputy Political Leader of the party:
(d) forced withdrawal by the government in the face of an aroused, incensed and indignant population.

It is in these circumstances that the General Council:

(i) having been summoned on April 19, 1970, with 106 members present;
(ii) having been adjourned for one week after only six members had the opportunity to speak on our greatest national crisis;
(iii) not having as yet been reconvened to continue discussion of the crisis;
(iv) not having discussed the resignation of five members from Cabinet;
(v) not having discussed the raiding of the Civil Service for political appointees;
(vi) not having discussed or even been informed of so-called programmes and policies of national reconstruction put forward by the Prime Minister and Political Leader.
(vii) not having been treated even to the courtesy of a report of the past five months of absolute rule;
(viii) having publicly supported the public demand of the Deputy Political Leader of the party for the withdrawal of the outrageous Public Order Bill.

now seeks to devote a whole Sunday meeting to an obscurantist resolution seeking to discipline the Deputy Political Leader of the party for the public stand he adopted in the interest of the country in the absence of any pronouncement, declaration or stand made or taken by the party, and in the absence of any meeting of any kind by the party on the greatest national issue of our time.

You will understand that I view such proceedings with contempt.

I will not be associated with the degradation and betrayal of everything the party has stood for in the past.

I resign my membership of the PNM as from today and definitely, I propose also, after due notice to my constituents and after explaining my conduct to them in public meetings in the constituency in accordance with declaration made before I was elected, to resign my seat in Parliament.’

Diminished worth of waiting.

Precious metals truly appreciate only over the long term; therefore, be prepared to weather a rough-and-tumble ride when launching out to invest in those waters!

However, the acquisition of seagoing vessels is really a cut-and-dry exercise -reference to many reputable brokerage firms is readily accessible. But, most times, the broker never even sees the vessel -just assumes it's worthy and unencumbered. Look about you warily!

Basically, political parties exist because different individuals & groups of individuals have different notions of how their country must be run; & such notions are born of what such individuals & groups of individuals expect to get from the country, given what to their country they give, or, from their country, they haven't yet gotten.

Unavoidably, that means political parties would never espouse the same way of doing things, even if, having some common cause, they enter some spousal relationship. In other words, except where the fear of losing power dominates, whenever political parties congregate to gain office, the dominant partner dominates.

However, in a democratic setting, arrangements of the sort necessarily entail the majority looking out for the minority.

Thing is, sometimes, "looking out for" can mean "being wary of".

Hither, thither and yon.

We didn't know/articulate where we were going, so, fifty years down the road, how can we pronounce if we got "there"?

Politically-bred greed? Or greedily-bred politicians?

People go into business to make money...more money than they had before they went into business.

To PNM politicians, politics is a business; to non-PNM politicians, it is not.

Whom, then, do you prefer at the helm?

Steady as she goes!

Light travels at a constant speed whenever moving through a vacuum. When the PNM was in office, the hopes of all right-thinking citizens were stripped bare, to the point where, if it wasn't fired when it was, certain oblivion would've overtaken all and sundry. Into that vacuum then did Commander-in-Chief Kamla and Field Marshal Jack muster disparate sources of energy to beam. Since then, but for a few blips, it has been steady she goes, as all systems were coaxed back towards peak efficiency so as to deliver this land from the jaws of hell. Nonetheless, the tunnel ahead is yet long and, being a PNM-built tunnel, dark; but, with resolute, capable lieutenants as Moonilal, Dookeran and Ramadhar, Stacy, Ramona and Verna, Ainsworth, Anil and Fuad, Stephen, Suruj and Vasant and many more, the nation can breathe easy again, assured that no guns trained against it from without...or within...shall derail this train! For this train is a holy train...this train! Steady as she goes! All aboard!!!!!!!! Buh ae, ae!!! Whuh de jail is dis??? Dah is Aloes I seeing dey, looking to hop train???? Put him in the Guard Van!!!

The Rock, or The Hard Place.

The way of The Originator and Sustainer of everyone and everything is that everyone and everything live in harmony with each other.

The way of Nature is different -survival of the fittest...the devil take the hindmost.

From not long after everyone and everything began, everyone went haywire, throwing a spanner in the entire works.

Since then, almost naturally, Nature's Way assumed precedence and, with Man, that meant...and still means...fix me first, second, third and fourth, in a world where all counting ceases after the quarterly cycles runs their full course.

Yet, there are a few who hanker for the return of The Original Order, therefore do not ever surrender, even when staring certain defeat or humiliation.

Hence, it is always the few who initiate change for the better, never the majority. Hence, too, when betterment does occur, it is the majority who opposed it who reap the maximum benefit from it, while the few get wedged between the rock and the hard place.

The highway to which I object.

There's a highway whose surface is broad, firm, smooth and, throughout, well-lit: it leads to Hell.

For that reason, it's the only highway to whose construction or traversing I object, also, since, regarding all land on Earth, Man has been given dominion from Time's dawn to Time's curtain call. Indeed, regarding the latter point, the very souls which doth protest over the Point Fortin Highway construction have long relinquished all merit to labour their point, for the communities they claim are threatened originated by trammelling the natural environment.

Wait! Wait!

I didn' properly explain what I meant by "fired"! I mean: "firing squadded"!

Having reviewed, we need to revamp, then resume.

We joined in common fray on May 24th 2010 to remove a sordid group from power. Two years thence, that many who were on the successful teams' side still complain -some, without justifiable cause- is enough reason to pause and undertake a thorough review of all which has transpired, then to revamp before resuming the long haul.

In that light, only the sordid would berate or object to the Honourable Prime Minister's just-recent announcement of her being focused precisely on doing such a thing.

And, regardless of the ambient luminescence, only the wise would understand wherefore and whence my comments are issued.

PNM Councillors want more of our $$$!!!!!!! Dey gotta be freaking joking, right?

Newsday reports that Terry Rondon and Franz Lambkin are in a tizzic because they find not enough moolah is being allocated to treat with local government "problems" in their respective municipal districts. They both gotta be freaking joking, right? If they're serious, they ought to ask Manning to tell Hart to run something, else, begone!

Make no bones about it! Sleazy leeches! That's what they are!

Well! Well! What a thing! People suddenly pretending they want no more of this, or of that, even though, for years, they've been quietly gorging themselves of the cream of the crop!  You may be surprised. I'm not. Why? Because leeches for donkey years they have been! Leeches now they are! And, leeches forever they'll be! A leech, when sated or salted, drops off its host. And, in case you don't know what leeches are: they're spineless, slimy, segmented blood-suckers that feast on the blood of those who aren't.

Who acted for the acting?

During the several hours between the Acting Chief Justice being rendered incapable of performing his official duties and the return of the incumbent Chief Justice from his hurriedly-truncated foreign sojourn, was another appointed by His Excellency, the President, to act as Chief Justice, as is required by Chapter 7 our Constitution and by other laws?
